The cast of Durham University’s Castle Theatre Company who performed last year’s production “Twelfth Night” in Philip and Raewyn Hope-Cobbold’s garden at Glemham Hall in July, acted with passion to impress and action to excite an audience who, prior to the performance, wined and dined promenade style on the lawn, in magnificent surroundings on a lovely summer’s evening, and raised just over £1,000 for The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and £850 for The Suffolk Foundation.
This year’s production “Macbeth” (that “Scottish Play”), see reverse for the Plot, another moving tale of intrigue, takes place on Sunday 4th July 2010, starting at 7 pm and lasts approximately 2 hours, including an interval; presenting fresh thoughts, beautiful costume design and enthusiastic interpretation. BYO picnics, seating, rugs, umbrellas etc! The garden will be open from 5.30 pm onwards for picnics (dress - an English Summer’s evening!). There will also be a £5 Rapid Raffle for some interesting prizes.
The Company is the oldest and most established of the University’s many theatre companies, entirely run by students, and is best known for its annual summer tours to some of England’s finest houses and gardens. This will be their eleventh annual appearance at Glemham—please come and support them for the benefit of two local charities.
A wonderfully atmospheric and utterly English, or even Scottish, evening of tragedy, intrigue and satire is almost guaranteed! A vigorous production well worth seeing and from which the Suffolk Branch of The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (Reg Charity No 1112023) and The East Anglian Air Ambulance (Reg Charity No 1083876) will benefit. Tickets purchased in advance Adults £25 and U 20 £16 each. Groups 10 and over £23 & £14 respectively. Credit/Debit card bookings on this website. Or with SAE with cheque payable to “Glemham Events”. Tickets purchased on the night £30 & £20 respectively (cash or cheque only). Any Donations should be made payable to the charity of your choice and forwarded to Glemham Hall.
