The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is one of Britain’s finest landscapes. The AONB covers 150 square miles and includes wildlife-rich wetlands, ancient heaths, windswept shingle beaches and historic towns and villages. The AONB is one of the most important lowland landscapes in England and Wales and offers wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation in a quiet, unspoilt setting. Knettishall Heath Country Park is a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’, with unspoilt heath, grassland and heather. See the herd of semi wild Exmoor ponies and in summer, watch common lizards bask in open, sunny spots on the heath and skylarks sing above the gently swaying grasses.
