The Invitation to View initiative provides the general public with opportunities to visit historic houses and gardens, which are typically NOT open to the public. The formula, where single visitors form groups to visit houses by appointment, is unique in Britain (possibly the world). It allows individuals to visit real family homes, which are neither statelies nor owned by formulaic national bodies.
